Round Ligament Pain, HELP!

This is going to be a TMI kind of post, so stop now if you want. For those of you still reading, please help! Since yesterday morning I've been having some constant pelvic, hip, and upper leg pain when I stand or walk. My pelvis also keeps popping and let me tell you, that HURTS! Everything I read says this should not happen for another 10 weeks or so, needless to say, I'm a little freaked out! By the time I decided to call my doctor, it was already 4:30 when they close and it might have just gotten worse because I was on my feet all afternoon seeing patients. My plan for tonight is to take some tylenol, a warm bath, and rest with my feet up.

Ok, advice needed, what do you think? Would you call now, give tylenol a couple hours to work then if still the same call, or wait until morning and reassess? Or, would you do the other thing I'm leaning toward doing and call my surgeon boss and ask him if he thinks I should call OB? Ha! (good thing we're such good friends because I'm pretty sure he is already tired of the pregnancy questions! Ha!)

No stressing! Feet up! Rest and Relax! If pain persist in the morning, I would call OB asap. Maybe your uterus is sitting low and it's just giving you a little bit of pressure??? I dunno. Just breath and don't put your body into "stress mode" worrying - I KNOW - easier said than done. I will pray for you and baby Ledford! Keep us blog stalkers updated! :)

Lay down and keep your feet up! To me it sounds just like the pain I started having when I was pregnant with Brayden at about 10/11 weeks. It's like an early onset of round ligament pain. As long as you dont have severe cramping or bleeding, I'm sure you're just fine!

I just had horrible restless leg syndrome. Absolutely the worst pain I've ever been in. I didn't really have what you have but I have always heard to keep your legs elevated and to rest a ton. I can't wait to see you on Thursday!

If you have that kind of relationship with your boss, I would call him and ask him what he thinks. I know your freaking out and so would I. I use to always call my OB about every little pain I felt. See what your boss say and I would still call the OB in the morning. Personally, I wouldn't take the tylenol but that's my opinion. I hope you feel better and GL. Let us know what happens.

I am not a usual commenter (but a usual lurker - ha!) first of all, congratulations on your pregnancy -God is so good! I too struggled with getting pregnant, though not to the same extent. Anyway, once I became pregnant I worried about EVERY little ache and pain! I had the round ligament pain early on (or what I thought was RLP....) but it turned out that the baby was just over my ciatic (sp?) nerve and putting pressure on my back/leg. As long as you are not cramping or bleeding, I would just rest, put your feet up and call your OB first thing in the morning. Worst case, he/she tells you to come on in and you get an extra chance to see the baby and/or the heartbeat! Keep us lurkers updated. I will pray for rest and peace for you tonight and for protection for Baby Ledford.

Hey Amanda! Congrats on the little one : ) I know exactly what you are talking about, I didn't have these type pains with Cameron, but with Kayla they were in full force, about as early on as you are. Hopefully you won't struggle with it the whole time, but I had constant hip pain everyday with her, and being ono your feet makes it so much worse, so sit as much as you can and change positions often. The only thing I found that helped was a heating pad and propping yourself on your side on a body pillow (if you don't have a body pillow- it is a must when you are pregnant, especially for when you get further along)

I know you are worried, as was I when I finally got pregnant. Every little thing made me nervous and call the doctor. One of my babies, had twins, was sitting on my siatic nerve (sp?) which caused pain that sounds just like that. I only got relief in my hip and lower back from a heating pad, and in the 2nd trimester I was able to use IcyHot on my lower back. That gave me some relief too. I would try to not panic tonight and do everything to relax. Stay off your feet as much as possible.

I would relax put my feet up, and pull out the heating pad and put it on low. That helped me a lot when I had pelvic and back pain (although mine was in the 3rd tri). Like the other commenters said if you are not cramping really badly and bleeding I wouldn't freak out about it. Drink some water too, because being dehydrated can cause that type of pain as well. We went to L&D at 27 weeks b/c I was dehydrated and having RLP and small contrax, all from the lack of water.

Hope you feel better soon. If it's not better in the morning I would call the OB just for some advice.

Just came across your blog today. Congratulations on your pregnacy! I had to comment because I experienced sudden intense pain in my pelvic area when I was pregnant. While my OB (and chiropractor) immediately thought it was a nerve, it got so bad that he sent me to the emergency room where I was admitted. A doppler didn't find anything conclusive. I was in-patient for several days with many specialists checking on me. The pain was so incredibly unbearable that not even heavy narcotics provided relief. Finally, an MRI was scheduled just to see if anything could be found that a doppler couldn't pick up. Before getting the results of it, all indications still pointed to a nerve. I was told I'd have to go home and deal with it because my insurance would not pay to keep me in-patient for nerve pain. While I was in tears thinking about how I was going to deal with 4 more months of not being able to walk, my OB came in and said I wasn't going anywhere because the MRI revealed a Deep Vein Thrombosis in my pelvis. Left untreated, it could be fatal. I was so relieved they fould the root of the problem but admitedly a little freaked out because of how quickly everything had happened. I remained in the hospital for another two weeks because my body was fighting the blood thinner they were administering. It took a long time to get to a therapeutic level but one we got there, the pain virtually disappeared. I was still put on bedrest for the remainder of my pregnacy, but I didn't suffer. I had to inject Lovenox twice a day through 36 weeks and then heparin 3 times a day after that. After I gave birth, I was on Coumadin for 3 months. I'm sorry for going on such, but it was such a sudden attack of pain and it completely caught me off guard. I've been tested for the blood clotting disorder twice and it's been negative. It was just so scary. I literally could not walk. My husband either carried me on his back or I crawled. As an RN, you know not to take DVTs lightly. If it's becoming harder to walk, I'd call the OB tonight. Otherwise, I'd still give a call in the morning. All that being said, I really hope it's nothing and you have a wonderful and enjoyable pregancy. It's just such a great experience. I'll keep you in my prayers. All the best...

You look so good!
I had lots of round ligament pain with Emily. Everything is just stretching out. I also had terrible trouble with my sciatic nerve. Everything seems better if you lay down on your left side.
