Ultrasound Flunkee, That's Me!

I have never been one to fail at anything. I am the world's worst OCD overachiever. However, for some reason I just CANNOT pass an ultrasound! (Not that you really pass or fail, but I have NEVER had an ultrasound that I or the physician came out of happy! Ha!) I am an US Flunkee! Ha!

Michael and I met OB Dr. Smith at his office at 11:00 this morning and imagine my surprise to find out not only have I NOT ovulated like I thought, but still don't have a follicle large enough to consider it dominate. Actually the leftie one had only grown 1mm in 3 days and the rightie had grown 3mm (a little more normal). He is not sure what will happen, but he wants me to start using OPKs (ovulation predictor kits) again and call him with a positive. Which leads me to my question of what brand do you use? Digital or standard? Test in the morning or evening (I know some OBs say after 2pm)? If I have not had a positive by next Monday, I am to call to come in. At that point he will have me see a RE just for a consult. He just wants to make sure he isn't missing anything. The confusing part is that clomid did create multiple follicles, just not any large enough to be called dominate, which was one of the two reasons he put me on it. The other was to stimulate my ovaries to release an egg before CD 20, which I do not do on my own, and apparently can't do on clomid either!

So, back to OPKs and praying for a dominate follicle.

OPK - CVS brand

They don't have a patent and are always using the latest and greatest versions of OPK.

Hope that helps!

OPK - They didn't have digital when I used them - they were just the line kind. I highly recommend digitals because the lines are SO HARD to read! GL!

I use the Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor (it's digital), while it is super easy to have to start it on the same day as your I'm not sure it would work out in your case since you're already mid-cycle. Also, they are expensive...I would probably try the CVS OPK's.

Wishing you lots of luck!

I will say a prayer for you! I'm glad you are able to joke about your ultrasound!! It's great to have a sense of humor about it, but I remember all too well how disappointing it is to flunk an ultrasound!! I dislike OPK's! (Just thought I'd throw that out there) I used the standard ones, and I used it right before bed at night. Hopefully there will be a positive soon!!

I got so frustrated last night (and this morning) because my OPK did not WORK! I bought the digital kind...the one you used before with the smiley face. Our RE told us to do two a in the morning and one at night, so we wouldn't miss the surge. So I am headed to Walgreen's this morning to pick up another set...just the regular kind with the lines. I'll do one at work this morning since the other ones didn't register :(

Praying for you!

I have used (don't laugh) the Dollar Tree OPKs and pg tests before, and they work great! I also have ordered a lot of stuff from

They recommend using OPKs between 10 a.m. (don't use FMU) and 8 p.m. Personally, right when I thought I was ovulating, I would use an OPK at about 10 a.m. and then also at about 5 or 6 p.m. Just in case I missed it. On the days I did ovulate, I could definitely see the surge, even just in the same day. The ones at that website are cheap (when you order the packs) and the shipping is free, I think.

Good luck!! Sorry this is so hard.
