Let the Transition Begin

Just for fun, I'm going to give you a peak in to the plans for the transition from our home office to the nursery today. Since we start our SECOND TRIMESTER (yes, I am a wee bit excited about that!) on Wednesday, we started seriously looking and thinking about the nursery this weekend. Of course, we aren't doing anything until we know boy or girl. I want your opinion about a couple of things, so here goes...

This is our office/soon to be nursery the day we moved back in (and it had no clutter! Ha!). I had this room and our guest room painted SW Brevity Brown because I knew I wanted a warm, chocolate brown nursery and I couldn't decide which room to use! Ha! This room won out because I love the crown molding (rather than the colder, vaulted ceiling in the guest room) and it will be a lot less trouble to clean out. PS: if any of you Chattanooga girls are interested in this desk set, let me know! It is a L-shaped when actually put together and there is some damage from the fire that I can be more specific about if you are interested. If so, email me at AJLedford@mac.com.
Now, for the dilemma: I'm trying to decide between this crib in white or espresso (the furniture above is espresso, if that helps). I think the white would look fabulous in the dark chocolate nursery. We have espresso or cherry everywhere else in our house, if that helps. I am so on the fence about this one! I've been in love with this crib for about four years. It reminds me of the crib Aliza, the child I kept while in college, had. Her nursery was my dream nursery and I've built my fantasy around it for 10 years!

I still have a LOT of looking and deciding to do, but these are our two top choices in bedding (with the baby's monogram in the center of the bumper, of course!)
(I'll probably do tulle behind her bed until she starts reaching and pulling with a canvas that says Lilly to match the bedding)
I LOVE the canvases on the wall and I THINK I MIGHT could make those!

So, what do you think? White or espresso? Be honest about the direction of the bedding too. This is just a rough draft kind of thing, nothing is being decided until we know boy or girl (and only then because this bedding take 6-10 weeks to be made and delivered).

My vote is with the white crib!! It'll look great with your crown molding! The other color might just blend in to the wall color, in my opinion. :)

Love both of the bedding choices!

You don't know me but I love reading your blog and am so happy you're expecting. I think the white crib would look awesome with the dark walls. It would really stand out. Bedding choices are very cute too!

I think the white would look best with the dark walls. However, I am like you and have expresso furniture all through my house and its a dust nightmare. I love the bedding with the monogram too cute. O how fun this is going to be.

I like the espresso, but in the dark room I like white best and it'll look good with the bedding you have picked out! I'm so excited for you....you're going to have so much fun!

white crib for a dark room, most def. I like bedding #1 better. Bedding #2 is pretty, just too modern for me. I really love dark furniture too but that's what I have in Lauren's room and while I love it, I dust it like every day. It's ridiculous!

I would do espresso especially if you do a convertible crib. We thought we wanted a white crib and I was pregnant with my first boy. The man in the crib store said "do you think your 14 yr. old son will want a white bed when he is older? And what will his friends say?" He did have a point. I think white is great but I think the espresso is more masculine if you have a boy.

I LOVE the white bed instead of espresso, especially with those dark walls!!!

The white crib pops against the brown room, but I like the bedding with the epresso better. Also, the expresso could be either girl/boy where the white is somewhat more feminine. Have you checked out Design Dazzle lately?

I love the white crib! The bedding is beautiful- you will have to share that website with me! The boy's bedding matches your LR decor! I'm sure you knew that already! Love and miss you!!!

I would go with the white crib. I think it will look great against the dark walls and would look good with either bedding.

WHITE!! go for something different. Landon has a white crib its classic. by the time we have a next one landon will be in a big boy bed and the new baby will be in landons crib so dont worry about when he gets older about sleeping in a white bed. if you have a boy he will want a car, pirate, sports bed etc.. by then anyway. the white looks great with the white trim.

I love the white! But I can also see how the espresso would be better for a boy when he gets older. I guess you would need to think about whether or not you're planning on using the crib/bed for the long run or not. Love the bedding, btw.

I think I vote for white, too. I am so excited to watch others do their nurseries. Mine are long past that age but I still enjoy it.

I say go for the white crib. I think it would look the best against the dark brown wall and will match the crown molding. Good luck!

Having had a white crib with my three girls, I am now totally against them. SO I say the espresso one. I love both of your bedding choices.
