2010 is Here!

So far 2010 is looking to be a great year for the Ledfords! We started it off at home with my best friend, Lauren and her husband Eric, and Courtney, Todd, and Lauren. We watched UT in the Chick Fil A bowl (which I still call the Peach Bowl and probably always will, it is a hard habit to break! I hate when they change the names of the bowls). It was a sad game, but we had fun anyway.

I made this YUMMY new taco dip recipe and it was a hit. It even tasted good yesterday! I'll post the recipe soon on the recipe blog.
This cute little cheerleader didn't have much to cheer for, but she sure was a cutie!
I have always made fun of Michael and called him the dog/child whisperer. He had never been around either before we got together, but for some reason they LOVE him. See for yourself...
We laughed so hard when this happened. UT scored and Michael bent down to give Lauren "five" and instead she grabbed on and held on. It was PRECIOUS! I am so glad he loves kids and I CANNOT wait to see him with our baby in SIX MONTHS! Ah!!!!!!
Here we are saying "GO VOLS!"
Spencer and Lauren also had fun. He loves babies, which is a huge relief.
Yesterday we did absolutely NOTHING and it was GREAT! We got up around 10 and went to the Waffle House for breakfast (Michael's fav, don't ask why, you don't want to know) then we just drove around for a while looking at houses (NO we DO NOT plan to move anytime in the next 8-10 years, just looking for fun) and looking at family-friendly SUVs. We love my BMW, but really, it is just not that practical size or payment wise once Baby comes. Do any of you have a Nissan Xterra or Pathfinder (we like going up into the mountains when it snows, hiking, etc so we were leaning towards these two since they are a little more rugged), if so, do you like it?

It was COLD today with a high of 29, BURRRR! Michael went back to work :-( and I decided I had enough cabin fever and went out to Hobby Lobby, Target, and Publix. While I was in HL, I got creative and decided to make a wreath for our front door for winter until I could put my Easter Egg wreath out. Here is the trial run, I still need to get a couple more things to put in there, but what do you think?

Tonight I am getting caught up on the blog, (aren't you proud, 2 posts in one day?!), clipping coupons out of baby magazines for baby products that we will need that expire before Baby comes, and just being lazy. Have a great rest of the weekend. I am taking my Christmas stuff down tomorrow. I had wanted to do it today, but Michael didn't get my boxes down yesterday, so he promised he would help tomorrow. I'll let you know how that goes! Ha!

I don't have a nissan, but have had many Toyota's, and one thing I would suggest, is taking your carseat, and trying it out in the back seat. Some of the smaller SUV's like that don't have big enough seats for carseats, or there isn't enough room for the carseat not to hit the front seat when it is rear-facing! Lynette

I agree about trying out a carseat in the back seat, and keep in mind that once the baby outgrows the carrier he or she still needs to be rear facing in a conversion carseat, and those are huge. I had that trouble in my smaller SUV. We ended up having to trade for a trailblazer, something a little bigger more midsize. The bigger carseats hang off the seat in some vehicles, and sit so far back that the front seat has to be scooted way up. Just something to keep in mind. Something else I wanted to suggest that we did when we were pregnant is start buying a package of diaper everytime you grocery shop. You can get several packages of several sizes, but once baby gets here $$$$$$ gets tighter and if you already have lots of diapers on hand it helps out lots. Just a thought!

sorry forgot to say that we bought so many diapers while I was pregnant, and we had a diaper shower because I had twins, that we didn't buy any diapers or wipes until after their first birthday. That was a huge help. So just continue to buy diapers and wipes when you grocery shop.

I love the wreath! I am planning to work on a general wreath for our front door this week sometime! I may copy yours and get some similiar flowers. BTW, our neighbors had a baby last year and also bought a pack of diapers a week before she had the baby. She still has a great supply remaining!

Was being nosey and reading people's diaper comments :) The only bad thing about buying them ahead is you don't know how they will fit. Huggies don't fit Lauren at all. Pampers only work for her. Huggies leg holes are just too big and she would leak....umm nasty! Wipes, I could care less what brand, as long as they don't fall apart.

My mom had a Nissan X-terra and kept it until the warranty ran out because she loved it so much! Cute wreath!

I am de-lurking to first say a big "Congratulations"! to you and your husband! You look great!

Also, the Nissan Pathfinder is great! No problems whatsoever.

Happy New Year!

Back to the diaper thing...I talked to my neighbor and she said that you can return the diapers to wherever you buy them and exchange for the size/brand you need. That is what she has done and said that the places have been more than happy to exchange them as long as they haven't been opened of course!

i would check out mini vans as well. I know a VAN!! I have been looking at vans compared to SUV's on price, gas, storage etc.. and the van seems to be the better deal. and when the kids get older you can stand up and move around in a van more room and cargo. when you get a carseat, stoller and everything else baby needs the more room the better. i know a van sounds so MOM but hey its a HUGE investment. We drive Nissans and the Quest looks very modern and not so mom. just a thought you might want to look into both and compare them. i have an Altima so not very big and i have made it this far in a smaller car, but i would love more cargo space. Landon fits best in Huggies, the coverage in the front is better for boys. i have had him in huggies, pampers and luvs and huggies is the only one he does not leak in. it just depends on how your baby is shaped whats best on the coverage.

The Nissan Pathfinder is great!! We bought it in order to have room for our 4 grandchildren and their car seats and it's been wonderful. I think the idea of buying a pack of diapers every time you go to the grocery store is a great one. Enjoy looking forward to your little one.

I have to agree with some of the other commenters....BUY DIAPERS AND WIPES!!! We did this while I was pregnant and it helped so much! We bought all pampers (swaddlers) which we ended up loving and the other brands/sizes that were given to us as gifts we just exchanged...target, kroger, publix, all those places gladly swapped them out for us! Also, if you haven't signed up for Publix's baby club yet you might want to look into it (not sure if there is one in your area..???) I do not usually shop at Publix, but they HAVE an awesome baby club with lots of FREE stuff, so I go there just to use my baby club coupons and then get the rest of my groceries at Kroger =0)
