Update on The Plan

I called my OB office today to ask what to do about the fact that cycle day 3 falls on Saturday and to set the dates for my FSH, follicle study ultrasound, and day 21 progesterone. They can run the FSH on CD 2 (tomorrow at 8:30am) and hopefully have results back next week! My follicle study will be on CD 14, Wednesday, August 19 at noon, and my CD 21 progesterone will be drawn on the following Wednesday which we will set that appt on the 19th.

I also had my clomid filled today. Part of me is super excited to try it, but the other part is a little freaked out at the possibility of twins or worse, hyperstimulation and having to give up on the cycle. I would love to hear anyone's clomid stories. Especially those of you who might have taken it even though you ovulated on your own, but took it to strengthen ovulations.

Well, my daughter had the 'or worse'. Actually, they have turned out to be 'the best'. We love all three of them dearly :). Hers were a result of IVF though, one split. I do not recall her being on chlomid although she did make some of her trips on a Saturday or Sunday for the IUI's which were not successful. I will be thinking of you.

Hi girl. I took clomid for NINE loooooong months. I say it like that because it made me looney tunes. Did you talk to your dr about Femara? Once I switched to that I was 1000 times better. It works the same as clomid but without the side effects. At the beginning of my IF treatment I did do femara once, but didn't ovulate so my then OB took me off of it and put me on clomid. Well, he never monitored me which resulted in cysts that kept bursting, ow. When I switched the RE he wasn't happy about all that and put me on a higher dose of Femara and it worked out well (no pain, no side effects). Anyway, just wanted to mention it in case you hadn't heard of it. Good luck!!!

Clomid made me crazy!! The hot flashes were nuts! Good news is it is different for everyone, so maybe it won't make you crazy! When I picked mine up at the pharmacy the 1st time, the pharmicist told me a long list of side effects and I only had a few of those instead of ALL of them. (Thank goodness!) It will be all worth it in the end!

Hi-- You don't know me. I don't even know how I found your blog, but I can totally relate to the infertility journey. After 15 months of not getting pregnant, I went straight to the RE-- bypassed the OB. She tested me and the infertility was unexplained on both ends. She prescribed Clomid even though I ovulated on my own. My RE was pretty clear with me that she would only let me do it for 6 months and realistically if you don't get pregnant after 3 months, it may start to lose it's effectiveness. I did Clomid in conjuction with IUI and the Ovidrel shot.Like others who commented, it made me feel crazy and fried. I found it very stressful to be on but I wanted to have a baby. I stopped after 3 months to get my head clear and to stop focusing all of my energy on having a baby. Lo and behold when I did that I got pregnant- no drugs, no IUI. Not that that was easy, as I had a complicated pregnancy which resulted in a preemie and have since had a miscarriage. I think God just wants me to trust him and his timing which is why things didn't work out the way I would have planned. Good luck with your journey, you are NOT alone in it for sure. Hopefully your experience with Clomid will result in a beautful baby!

Hey Amanda!
Good luck with the Clomid. I am supposed to start my plan later this month. I was so freaked out about "the plan" I cancelled my appt today. At the previous appt., the doctor went over the medicine and the shots and I was so overwhelmed and scared by it. I think that it is the fact that other than migraines, I have never had any medical issues, no meds, I didn't even have braces!
I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Report back on any helpful hints!

I took Clomid everytime I got pg. I never had one side effect at all. NEVER. It worked great.....I am trying to give you a positive story. Its been a long time ago, but it worked for me. I did all the things you are doing with the blood work. But I never had one doubt in my head that it would not work and kept a very positive attitude!!!!! Good luck. You know I'm praying for you.

I found your blog awhile back and I have followed you because like you I was diagnosed with Endometriosis when I was 30 years old. I actually had emergency surgery to remove an endometreoma which was the size of a grapefruit and at that time I was unmarried and was told that I might not ever have any children. Well a couple years later I got married and we decided to start trying to have a baby. Although I had been on a steady does of birth control pills since being diagnosed we were unsure if I would ovulate on my own. So after 3 months of trying on our own I was given clomid to try. I was on clomid for three months and I did not have any side effects and on the third month of clomid I became pregnant. I am 38 weeks pregnant now and about to have my first baby. Please do not give up and do not be scared to try clomid. Good Luck and I will be praying for you. I know what it is like to be told you may never be able to have a baby and I pray that will not be the case for you. If you would like to talk more you can email me at

Amanda---

I took clomid to get pregnant with my first three babies--- (now,14yrs old, 12 yrs old and 6 yrs old) My 1st baby I got preg. in 4 months, my 2nd took only 2 months and my last clomid baby took 11 months!!! Which I'm not sure that 11 months is a recommended length by most doctors!! But I had absolutely no side effects ever on it!!! I just wanted you to think positive about it too!! Oh by the way, I also had a 4th baby, now almost 4 yrs old, without any drugs. We were all done and I had made an appointment for my tubal and surprise I got pregnant trying not to!! My ob just laughed and said where do you think all those months of clomid went!!! Best of luck with the clomid!!!
